Audiovisual event production: I trust no one - that microphone, that powerpoint...
Updated: Feb 8, 2018
Audio, video, lighting services and more are often essential equipment to have during your event, but not all venues will have them in house. Venues such as rooftops, gardens, vineyards and many others don’t possess screens, microphones, PA systems or technicians. Of course it all depends on the goal of event. So, when you choose the perfect place for your party but it doesn’t have built-in audiovisual facilities, you can always use external providers and contractors. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
If you are completely new to this, we recommend to research at least 3 different companies and compare the prices they offer. From our experience, the cheapest companies also offer cheap technical quality that can impact the smooth running of your event. For instance, cheap microphones will be very sensitive to wifi and mobile phone signals and won't work well. When that happens you risk an unhappy crowd and an unsuccessful event because of consistent sound problems.
Another problem, especially in sunny countries like Spain, is TV monitors which are just not bright enough! If your event is during the day, be sure to think about the light conditions of the venue. It’s very important to pay attention to this in advance and agree on the equipment which produces a good image even if it’s sunny.
Meet with you audiovisual provider at the venue beforehand and give a full brief discussing all sizes, equipment locations, timings and support options.
There is much more to it than you might think when hiring an external provider of audio video services. At Event Barcelona we took plenty of time to find high quality and cost-effective providers which are reliable and service-oriented. Don't risk your event being a flop, hire professional help!
