3 Best Movies For Event Inspiration
The devastating pandemic of the COVID-19 is hugely affecting all aspects of our lives and the events industry is not an exception. People’s health is undoubtedly the main priority and the main concern for everyone right now, hence live events are not an option. And at this challenging time, movies are, probably, the best alternative! :) At Event Barcelona, we’ve prepared the list of our favorite movies about crazy event planning:
Fyre: the greatest party that never happened
Fyre is a 2019 American documentary film about Billy McFarland and the failed Fyre Festival of 2017. It’s a movie about a posh music festival that was promised to be the ultimate luxury experience on a private island, but it failed spectacularly thanks to the fraudulent entrepreneur-organiser, who delivered zero luxury. The movie shows the crazy event preparation and a virtuous failure. Something that at Event Barcelona we’d never want to experience :D
The First Monday In May
The First Monday In May is a film about one of the greatest New York’s fashion parties held with a purpose to raise funds for the Metropolitan Museum of Art clothing department, the famous MET Gala, and to open the annual fashion exhibition.
The first event was organised in 1948 and since then has been one of the leading world’s fashion events that hosts the most famous and influential celebrities, wearing clothing inspired by the yearly themes and made by the biggest fashion designers.
“The First Monday in May” is a documentary that lits the light on the preparations for the MET Gala Ballroom event. The movie shares both the backstage (planning and preparation), organisation of the fashion exhibition, and the event day itself with the red carpet stories. The film is such a great representation of the last minute madness before a massive event. At Event Barcelona, we don’t miss that yet :D
The Ultimate Wedding Planner
The movie was first seen in 2014 at the Cannes Film Festival. The film shares the success story of one of the world’s most famous Japanese wedding planners, Yoshitaka Nojiri. Nojiri became well-known at the beginning of the 20th century. His wedding planning company was a great success and was organising nearly 2,000 weddings a year, as well as luxurious events for the world’s biggest luxury brands. Nojiri transformed weddings’ concept first in Japan and later worldwide by throwing immersive events and revolutionizing the guests’ experience. Such an inspiring movie for all event professionals!
This time of COVID-19 is incredibly challenging for all of us but we are sure we’ll get through it together! And meanwhile, there’s plenty of time to get inspired by the movies and plan your celebratory event when the virus is overcome :)
